Hi, I'm Alyssa
I’m an artist and educator born and raised in Cornwall, Ontario. Creativity has always been part of my life. Over the years, I’ve found my way through dance, theatre, music and visual art — eventually studying Fine Arts and Education at Bishop’s University in the Eastern Townships.
My background includes art history, art education and training in art therapy, along with plenty of time spent experimenting in the studio with painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture.
These days, you'll most often find me with a paintbrush in hand. Acrylic painting has become my favourite medium, but I’ve never been very interested in putting myself into one artistic box. I love trying new things, experimenting with different materials and techniques, and following an idea just to see where it goes.
A lot of my inspiration comes from the things around me — flowers on a table, interesting glass and reflections, landscapes, places I've travelled, and ordinary moments that make me want to stop and look a little longer.
That same curiosity is something I love sharing with others. Through my workshops, I want people to feel comfortable trying something new, making a mess, learning as they go and enjoying the process of creating.
McLean Art Co. is where all of those pieces come together — a place to share my work, explore new ideas, and hopefully encourage a little more creativity along the way.
